K-pop group SS501's Kim Kyu-jong will be putting his singing career on hold to enter the army as soon as next month, and become the first among all five SS501 members to join the army.
The singer will soon be off to fulfill his two-year mandatory military service by entering the 35th division unit located in the city of Jeonju, on July 23, according to B2M Entertainment's post on Kim's official website on Tuesday.
After four weeks of training at the infantry division, he will be serving as a public service worker for the remaining period.
Delivering the latest updates about the artist, B2M added that Kim is currently putting final touches on his last album to be dropped before entering the army, and editing videos for the release.
Early this month, the SS501 member informed that he will be going into hiatus for about two years due to the two-year mandatory military service required of all Korean men.
The news came a few days before holding the last run of his fan meeting tour in Seoul and he reportedly had a memorable time there, which was to be the last official event for the time being.
Kim made his debut as a member of boy band SS501 along with Kim Hyun-joong, Park Jung-min, Heo Young-saeng and Kim Hyung-joon with their first self-titled album in 2005.
He signed with B2M Entertainment along with Heo Young-saeng after their group contract with DSP Media expired in June 2010. Kim has since tried acting in TV series and in a musical, and released his first solo album, "TURN ME ON," last September.
