Mnet’s Wide Entertainment News gathered some statistics and information to find out what season brought in the most success for idol groups. The information was based on how many groups won the rookie of the year awards.
Of all the groups that made its debut, nine percent proved to be successful in the spring. SHINee and 2NE1 had the most success debuting in May of 2008 and 2009, respectively.
Both groups began strong with hit songs, grabbing the hearts of nunas and earning the respect of women with girl power.
Summer proved to be the hottest time to debut with the greatest number of debuts.
It was atrributed to 16 percent of the success. SS501, FT Island, Girls’ Generation (SNSD) and miss A were among the more successful groups, all receiving amazing responses from the public and bringing plenty of awards into their hands.
Unfortunately for autumn, not many debuts were made and brought in zero percent of success, even with f(x) and MBLAQ making their debuts.
There were 17 teams that made their debuts during the winter and only two proved to have success. They were TVXQ (DBSK) and CN Blue, who received an overwhelming response from the public.
