Mnet’s 20’s Choice Awards will be meeting its sixth show this year on June 28 at The Oasis.
The ceremony fanfares its arrival with the slogan that it’s Korea’s only summer awards ceremony for those in their 20s, and makes issues every year for its hot and shocking performances.
As such, enews picked out some of the best and hottest performances in the history of the show.
Barefoot Hyuna and sexy Kim Hyun Joong
The scenes that first come to mind when people think of the 20’s Choice Awards are probably from these performances that took place last year at the Walkerhill Riverpark.
Two stars shone brighter in the sudden rain: 4minute’s Hyuna and Kim Hyun Joong.
Hyuna performed her solo single Bubble Pop for the first time ever at the ceremony.
She started dancing in kill heels, but because the rain had made the stage too slippery to dance on, she simply threw off her heels and danced barefoot onstage.
Her barefoot performance actually added to her sexiness and drew bigger cheers from her audience, and perhaps thanks to this performance, Hyuna’s solo ventures garnered a giant success.

In the middle of his performance of Breakdown, he suddenly threw off his shirt to show off his six pack.

Uhm Jung Hwa and Lee Hyori’s sexy collaboration
One of the biggest attractions at the 20’s Choice Awards is the collaborative performances between top singers. In 2008, Uhm Jung Hwa and Lee Hyori helped make the 20’s Choice Awardsmore popular by performing together in the ceremony’s second year.
Uhm Jung Hwa and Lee Hyori sang each other’s hits D.I.S.C.O. and U-Go-Girl, and followed up the performance by singing Uhm Jung Hwa’s DJ together onstage.
Other collaborations included Jun Jin and Wonder Girls, Kim Gun Mo and Girls’ Generation (SNSD) and Big Bang and No Brain.
DJ DOC and UV flaunt their free spirits
The 20’s Choice Awards isn’t all about splendid performances.
Some performances break through formalities and just have everyone enjoy the fact that they’re there. DJ DOC, who made an appearance to give out an award at the 2nd 20’s Choice Awards, had the crowd laughing when it pretended it couldn’t get into the ceremony.
In 2011, Yoo Se Yoon and Muzi won an award as UV and said, “We don’t know why you’re so crazy about our music, but the important thing is that you do go crazy.”
The two then covered themselves with blood and performed with zombie backup dancers, trying to get the audience to join in a giant performance that everyone could enjoy.
Yoo Se Yoon is especially said to be the embodiment of the 20’s Choice Awards. Last year, he won the Hot Variety Star Award, and said, “This is my third award, and I think it’s time I got tired of this.”
His words were surprising, but they definitely broke through regular ceremony formalities and showed what the 20’s Choice Awards was all about.
