Successs stories are a delight to come across in one’s reading. Successful people make excellent graduation speakers inspiring many hopefuls embarking on their travel towards their dreams and ambitions. Ironically, some of these bearers of success stories do not have impressive academic credentials,yet managed not only to make it, but make it all the way to the top.
Do we have in mind among the few exemplary younger ones, Kim Hyun Joong? Yes. A resounding yes! The recent documentary of his 24 hours as a Hallyu star gives us an inside story given by the man himself and the others around him.
His near perfect performances as a solo artist captured the attention of many in different parts of the world either watched live or in YouTube. A national pride of South Korea for bringing not only his brand of entertainment, but with it everything else of Korean culture. That recognition wasn’t lost on both government and private entities as he becomes their endorser , spokesperson and representative.
So to what is Kim Hyun Joong’s wide and broad scale felt presence attributed? One Korean entertainment authority in the documentary said, Hyun Joong has good management and control. That statement say much but in a nebulous way. In my book it is self mastery. It means Hyun Joong has the passion and power to drive himself towards his doable goals -not only having them but most importantly implementing them. It starts with a realistic assessment of personal strengths and weaknesses, knowing what needs correction, what can be maintained through proper discipline and training. If HJ seems tireless and workaholic to his team members,he is actually practicing self discipline with the added dictum, practice makes perfect. Champions only know too well this is the way to reach their objectives.
Besides having a masterplan for each of his activities, Hyun Joong is a very hands on person, micromanaging during critical pre performance hours. That is to assure himself nothing is left to chance. He sizes up most situations are predictable, thus controllable.
He has also mastered the art of team building and leadership that served him well even as he went solo. He knows that one’s success depends on the people who work with him and never forgetting to give them credit as well. We have seen the result -well attended concerts, awards , the recognition and most of all the priceless camaraderie among them.
He has not forgotten being humble and respectful before his sunbaes, even to his hubaes, grateful to loyal friends and of course to his fans , knowing fully well,his success lies on giving his very best and dedicating them to his supporters and admirers.
The underside of success is failure or apprehensions of failures. But that is where we learn from our mistakes and flawed decisions. Hyun Joong is no stranger to failures and as a result had also moments of fears and loneliness that brought about anxiety. But he did not allow those moments to linger long,he picked himself up and moved on with more vigor and zest.
Does Hyun Joong own a charm, a talisman that makes him lucky ? Is he just a lucky guy? He is the first one to say NO. I agree. This guy works very,very hard. Nothing beats that .
But do not be deceived by many writeups about him being the hard worker all the time . He is still the playful, funny and as they say 4D person. I prefer to call him one who thinks outside of the box. He is still in touch with his inner child. That gives him the advantage of a mind that is not afraid to try novel ways and creative steps.
You might ask, are those all his secret to success ? Hmmm,we have to add he is a charmer, handsome, good dresser,good kisser,body parts proportional to the talent..please feel free to add some more. By the way,he has a copyright to all the above. Others after him may have to reinvent the wheel.
See I told you he has rewritten the success story. It is hard to be another Hyun Joong -because he is the ONLY ONE .
