It was a nerve-wrecking experience to get ready and prepare myself for HJ’s arrival in Bangkok

It was my first time ever to get to meet Hyun Joong in real life. I was baffled with how we did it. I used to follow some of the bands I liked when younger but they all were western bands so the expression was completely different.

Anyway, i did went to the airport to welcome him like any other fans. It wasn’t a surprise to see fans and local fanclubs camping out there with their banners. The crowd was pretty impressive. I was waiting for him at Exit 10. Saw his black BMW and when i heard the scream, i knew this was it.

Hyun Joong emerged from the sea of crowd, sporting white top and black pants and of course his usual shades. He waved..yes he did. i managed to get only one photo of him. only one but it was worth it. When i first got a glimpse of him, i got goosebumps and felt the chill down my spine. My hands were trembling so hard that i couldn’t hold the camera properly. I took a snap shot and off he rode in his black BMW to downtown.

his car went back around in a detour for one more time but i was silly and too excited to notice lol.

i didn’t follow him to Dusit hotel where he would be staying and having his press conference as i didn’t have the pass and i would probably not see him anyway. I went back to Central World (CTW) and waited for his hi 5 event. Early fans came to reserve good spots already. They were everywhere from G floor up to 4th floor with their banners and stuff.

Hyun Joong arrived on time at 6pm on the dot. The event was pretty fast and too much commotion for me. He showed up his head-to-toe black outfit, with his orange/gold hair pulled up opening his doll face. I must say, he indeed has a flawless skin…radiant and charismatic. I didn’t hear the whole interview (if u can call that interview) because of the echo in the hall. GMM needed to be more organized though. Fans who lined up got messed along the way once the hi 5 started.

I didn’t remember anything much up on stage cos i was trying to focus on HJ. honestly, i dared not to look at him much. it was like oh my goshh…i wanted to speak to him but i forgot my line. A korean friend taught me a sentence and i noted it on my palm. silly me i couldn’t have a look since i gotta do hi 5! (i did hi 10 anyway) in the end, i ended up mumbling something non human except his name “hyun joong…i…erm…ha..ahh ermm” he smiled broadly, eyes rather perplexed (he did make an eye contact with fans) and nodded and said “De!” it was the most beautiful word i ever heard hehe before i got dragged away from the line.

The event went by so fast. all the commotion. Hyun Joong and the crew left at 6.30. He went to have dinner at Arirang restaurant on sathorn road. funny. a professor of mine commented that “why did he come here to eat korean food?” i told her that he would probably want some comfort food as he had been on a tour for almost two weeks now. She observed “if he keeps eating korean food when travelling overseas, he would forget where he is and may make a slip like “i love Taiwan” [instead of Thailand - it’s a common mistake foreigner celebrities often make]. i just laughed.

Henecians, she made a friendly joke don’t feel offended. I believe HJ is professional enough and real enough to be totally into the place where he travels to.

I did follow him to Healthland where he had a massage. I waited for 2 hours and i just saw a glimpse of him like 5 seconds. Honestly i went there because i didn’t remember anything much at hi 5. it wasn’t satisfying. HJ came out from his massage around 11pm-ish, all radiant and smiling. He waved to fans and rode back to his hotel.

Girls, what kind of massage do you think HJ had? Thai traditional massage (oh painful!) or mushy mushy aroma therapy massage to unwind at the end of the day? You never know...

“Pom Rak Khun Thailand” [Day 2 - The Faceshop promo event]

HJ set off his second day around 10am-ish to prepare for today’s activity. He gave a press con and interview at Centara Grand hotel (the affiliated hotel of CTW where he would be having his Faceshop promo). He moved here for reason of convenience, obviously.

He was right on time and appeared at TFS event around noon. Now you can see that the mood and tone was completely different than the hi5 event which was rather keepy-my-cool and “noir” (to fit with the image of Break Down?)

The event started off with Korean make-up style demonstration and followed by an auction which included HJ standees and shoes. I was marvelled at the rich noona fans but the auction was so much fun! (The proceeds went to Thai Rath Foundation to build schools in rural area.) I always wanted to join the bidding myself because it was so extravangaza but Hyun Joong-ah, i wasn’t rich and i spent all on TFS and hi5 to ensure my pass to your events hehe.

Despite his black outfit (chic, fashionable black top with one sleeve short and the bat-style sleeve on the other), HJ came to TFS with a sunny, all-bright aura. Perhaps it was because of the stage set up as well. Two TFS little boy and girl were sent up on the stage first. When “Hyun Joong Oppa” came on, the little boy didn’t want to get off, he just wanted to hang around with his Oppa. HJ was obviously loving these children. His attention was diverted to them right away whenever he spotted kids and little creatures. How lovely :)

He gave his interview on stage (the ususal questions, favorite TFS products, his works and future concerts). Then came the autograph session. HJ was such a considerate person. He was eager to help the crew set up and moved the table where he would use for autograph giving. Fans screamed (expectedly so) when seeing their beloved idol behaving so lovingly like this. Fans lined up and moved on to get his autograph. He was all smiling, nodding, acknowledging every fan. I was impressed and even surprised to see that he took time with them. No wonder you are so loved HJ!

After the autograph, HJ ended his activity here by saying Thai words “Pom Rak Khun Thailand” which means “I love you Thailand” hehe. HJ then proceeded to the upper floor to visit TFS outlet and took photos with Top 30 spenders. Fans ranning chaotically just to reserve the spot. It was already barricaded when i got there but i had my pass. I took photos of those top spender fans and observed HJ again. There was one incident when one fan kinda caught him off guard by charging him with a hug. He threw up his hands in the air, laughing nervously (still smiling) and made an “oh!” face. I didn’t take this photo cos i was a bit shocked too. The security came in and kinda calmed down the situation.

Again, Hyun Joong was so thoughtful. One fan just received the standee which she auctioned off but didn’t take the photo with him. He pointed his finger out to his crew and signalled her to get back and take a snap. How nice right?

In the afternoon, he went to another TFS outlet at Paragon which is nextdoor to Central World (yes Bangkok is all about shopping malls!). The venue was very small fans were trying hard to squeeze in just to get a glimpse of their idol. It started with makeup demo and auction again. This time, his standee and Wine& People book. Insane i must say as the Wine & People got bidded at 100,000 THB (3,333 USD approx). The rich noona fan who got this was the same one among the Top 30 spender program :) Although i wish the proceeds went to another more needy foundation…this is just my opinion though. Thai Rath is the most influential print media in Thailand: FYI

The event was delayed and it wasn’t until almost 5pm when HJ reappeared. This time, he came down from the escalator of the upper floor (Walking two steaps each?) with his entourage. For me, i really loved the angle where I saw him from. It was such a grandeur. Heads turned up and turned to him and all fans were screaming again like mad. HJ came up, gave a short interview and took photos with Top spenders and with successful bidders. I so loved this because some fans were creative enough and asked Hyun Joong for cute posts i.e. making a heart sign with their hands or that famous “Sarangheyo” arm hehe. HJ was kindly obliged to their requests. I envied them to the max!

That was it for the official program. Late at night I was driving around with friends, figuring out whether we should follow him. It was off the schedule already. Eventually i decided to come home and heard some news again that he went to this particular place. Well, i hope you did have a good time and relaxed a bit there Hyun Joong ah. you deserved it although noona felt a bit painful inside lol (i’m kidding girls, don’t speculate further.)

HJ arrived at Suvarnabhumi airpot the next day around 6AM-ish. I couldn’t wake up so i didn’t see him off but he was warm surely by the amount of fans who showed up. Then off to Manila, the last stop of his Asia Tour.

Well it was a fun experience for me and gave me a lot of insights. As a fan, i will of course be rooting for his concerts and support him in every way I can. I just wanted to record this here..the day I met my idol and the 2 days i would never forget and mark it as an important chapter of my life.

Good luck Hyun Joong. I wish you the best :)
